2010. 10. 12.

ECI in cooperation with GEMME in contribution of the International Visegrad Fund held a two-day (7th and 8th od October, 2010.) international conference in Brno, Czech Republic on the subjects of mediation, probation and dispute resolving.

This conference was the second international conference under the label „ Mediaton – A path towards justice” by the European Institute for Reconciliation, Mediation & Arbitration (ESI) in cooperation with European Association for Judges for Mediation (GEMME)

The roughly 100 guests of the conference, as well as the experts arrived from various countries (France, Italy, Czech Republic, Slovak Republic, Portugal, United Kingdom as well as Hungary). The only Hungarian representative on the conference was Dr. Borbala Fellegi, executive of the Foresee Research Group. Her presentation, on the second day of the conference discussed the approach of prosecutors in Hungary towards mediation and restorative justice. In general, the subjects of the presentations followed four streamlines, namely „Mediation in Civil and Commercial Disputes”; „Mediation in Family Cross Border Conflicts”; „Mediation in EU Countries” and „Restorative Justice and Mediation in EU”. On both days, workshops were organized in the afternoon, and discussion forums about the future of mediation and dispute resolution were held in the evening.

The main aim of the Foresee Research Group with the attendance was to strengthen the relations with the „Visegrad Countries”, so that with the help of international cooperations the effectiveness and proffessional level of restorative justuce and conflict resolution (with emphasis on the ethnic-based conflicts of settlements) can be raised. The dissemination of mediation and the joint-work towards creative and effective solutions in dispute resolution onj a regional level were also determinative reasons of the attendance.
